Large vintage 1901 Edwardian COLMAN’S MUSTARD SHOP COUNTER TIN depicting King Edward VII in various stages of his life along with Queen Alexandra. These large tins were supplied by Colman’s to shops and this one is In very nice condition with just a few surface scratches. These tins had all sorts of different themes and this one has a Royal theme probably made to coincide with King Edward VII’s coming to the thrown. The lid has a portrait of the king and reads ‘His Majesty King Edward VII’. The front of the tin has a portrait and reads ‘Her Majesty Queen Alexandra’. The back of the tin has a portrait and reads ‘H.R.H. Duchess of Cornwall’. One side has a portrait and reads ‘H.R.H Duke of Cornwall’. The other side has a portrait of a child and reads ‘Prince Edward of York’. The tin is octagonal  in shape with each corner panel depicting colour illustrations of flowers, crests and crowns. The base of the tin reads, in embossed writing, ’J & J COLMAN LTD, PURVEYORS OF MUSTARD, TO THE KING’. In the centre of the lid is a purple and gold label that reads ‘COLMAN’S FINE MUSTARD, WARRANTED PURE’ together with an illustration of the famous bull’s head trademark and on either side of the logo it reads ’BULL’S HEAD’. It has also retained its inner lid which is rare in itself. All hinges on both lids and catch are in good order. It measures 7” square by 7” high.

Lovely 19th C. original COLMAN’S WOODEN ADVERTISING BOX. Very nice condition and very sturdy. The box retains it’s original paper lining. Printed on the front it reads ‘J & J COLMAN’S, PATENT No. 1, PRIZE MEDAL STARCH, REQUIRES NO BOILING, BLUE’. The sepia paper advertising label underneath the lid is amazing - not just in looks but in quality and condition. It covers the entire lid and reads ‘COLMAN’S STARCH’. The wording is housed in a banner that stretches across the entire street. There are people milling about and on some of the balconies. In the bottom left hand corner of the label is the title of the scene which reads ‘OLD LONDON’. The lid is attached to the box with wire hinges. It measures 20" long by 8" wide by 8" high.

A very RARE vintage Edwardian 1910 COMPLETE SET of 4 COLMAN’S MUSTARD EDUCATIONAL WALL CHARTS. These charts were given free to schools of the day upon request. They were produced between 1900 and 1935. They were made as a promotional aid, essentially to sell the Colman’s brand to a new generation. The charts were produced mounted onto hardboard with pre drilled holes centered at the top and all have their original string hangers. The heading at the top of each chart reads ‘COLMANS SERIES OF PREHISTORIC LIFE’ and then ‘CHART A, B, C & D’. At the base of each chart it reads the prehistoric ages ie, CAINOZOIC AGE, THE PALAEZOIC AGE, QUATERNARY AGE and THE MESOZOIC AGE. Below these headings are the various periods within the relevant prehistoric ages. Below these headings it reads, at the base of each chart, ‘PRESENTED BY J. & J. COLMAN LTD, MUSTARD, STARCH & BLUE MANUFACTURERS, NORWICH, ENG.’ Each chart has the most wonderful, detailed and very colourful illustrations with accompanying written information. A unique and informative collection of vintage Colman’s advertising and very rare to have a complete set.
